چکیده

This paper presents an overview of the effect of synchronisation errors on MCCDMA performance in downlink communications. We distinguish two types of synchronisation errors: carrier phase errors and timing errors. We show that the MC-CDMA system is very sensitive to a carrier frequency offset or a clock frequency offset. For a maximal load, carrier phase jitter and timing jitter give rise to a degradation that is independent of the spectral content of the jitter; moreover, the degradation caused by carrier phase jitter and timing jitter is (essentially) independent of the number of carriers. A constant carrier phase offset and a constant timing offset cause no degradation of the MC-CDMA system performance.

The Sensitivity of a Flexible Form of MC-CDMA to Synchronisation Errors

In this contribution, we propose a variant of the MC-CDMA system that offers more flexibility than the traditional MC-CDMA system. We investigate the sensitivity of this flexible MC-CDMA system to some types of synchronisation errors. This flexible MC-CDMA system is not affected by a constant phase offset or a constant timing offset, as in the proposed flexible MC-CDMA system the carriers insid...

The Sensitivity of MC-CDMA to Synchronisation Errors

In this contribution, we investigate the sensitivity of MC-CDMA systems to synchronisation errors. We show that the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the MC-CDMA system at the input of the decision device in the presence of a carrier frequency offset or a clock frequency offset is a rapidly decreasing function of the number of carriers. For a maximal load, carrier phase jitter and timing jitter gi...

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Sensitivity of Multicarrier Systems to Synchronization Errors

In this contribution, we give an overview of the sensitivity of a number of multicarrier systems to carrier and symbol synchronization errors. A comparison is made between orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing/multiple access (OFDM(A)) and two combinations of the orthogonal multicarrier (MC) transmission technique with the code-division multiple access technique (CDMA), i.e. multicarrier C...
